Threads vs Filler vs Botox: Which is Right for You?
With new treatments and procedures that that are on the rise, it can be difficult to know which one is a fad, which one has proven clinical results and which one is right for you. First, let’s discuss the difference between PDO Thread Lifts, Cosmetic Fillers, and Botox (neuromodulators).
PDO Thread Lift
PDO Threads are fully absorbable threads made from polydioxanone which stimulate collagen synthesis. There are four different types of PDO Threads we use in our clinic; smooth, twisted, barbed, and molded. Your area of concern and outcome desired will help us to determine which type of thread(s) to use.
Cosmetic Fillers
Cosmetic Fillers such as the Juvéderm (Ultra XC, Ultra Plus, Volbella, and Voluma), Restylane (Contour, Defyne, Lyft, Kysse and Refyne), and RHA (RHA 2, 3 and 4) are used in our clinic. We can use these collections of fillers to treat cheeks, midface, temples, lips, nasal labial folds, perioral lines, marrioinettes, lower face, chin, jawline and more. Cosmetic fillers typically last 6-15 months depending on the product used and the placement. Bio-stimulators such as Radiesse and Sculptra can also be used in areas such as the temples, cheeks, jawline, and lower face to stimulate collagen production.
Botox (Neuromodulators)
Botox is one of the most familiar brands of neuromodulators on the market. Other brands of neuromodulators include Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. Neuromodulators are used to relax muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines and typically last 3-4 months.
So which treatment is right for you? The answer depends on your area of concern as well as your desired results.
Lift and Tightening
PDO Thread Lifts will generally provide the most desired outcome when the concern is sagging and loose skin without having to undergo a surgical procedure. Areas we love Thread Lifts are the mid/lower face, jawline and neck.
Volume and Support
Cosmetic Fillers are used to help provide volume and support. You may notice as a people age they lose volume and support to areas such as the undereyes, cheeks, temples, nasal labial folds and lips. Bio-stimulators can also be used in areas that are hollow and need collagen stimulation.
Not everyone is a candidate for every treatment so we recommend scheduling a consultation with one of our Injection Specialists to help decide which treatment would be best for you!
